Hot Rolled ASTM A240 317L Steel Plate is made of a molybdenum containing, low carbon austenitic stainless steel with increased additions of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum for better corrosion resistance and increased resistance to chemical attack for sulfurous, acetic, formic, citric, and tartaric acids. Due to its low carbon content, 317L Sheet also provides resistance to sensitization when welded and higher creep, stress to rupture, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures. S31703 Plate is non-magnetic in the annealed condition but may become slightly magnetic after welding.
Hot Rolled ASTM A240 317L Steel Plate offers higher creep strength, stress to rupture and tensile strength, specifically at elevated temperatures. Cold Rolled ASTM A240 317L Steel Plate is a low carbon grade which results in greater resistance to sensitization during welding and other important thermal processes. 317L Stainless steel Plate does not stain, corrode, or rust as easily as ordinary steel, but it is not stain-proof.
